[They] Want It All

Publicado Dezembro 17, 2006 por Pedro Pais

Today I went to a great friend’s birthday party. It was a surprise party, prearranged by his girlfriend.

Everything went great except for two things:

  1. The service was very very slow and I believe we waited more than hour before dinner was served;
  2. We were 30, but it was scheduled to be 31 people. Anyway, the restaurant staff wanted us to pay the missing person.

I want to focus on #2. How can someone charge for a missing person when it was obvious that the dinner was made on-the-spot (and we waited a long time for it)? It’s not that the restaurant had really wasted a lot of resources on that unserved meal.

So what did they get? We payed that extra meal and they gain about 3,33% extra. On the downside they also made me not want to come back - ever. As a great guy I am, I will, whenever possible, do bad publicity to their service.

A restaurant I might recommend to some people is now a great no-no, just because greed.

Next time you upset your customers for a little nothing, remember that will come back at you, sooner or later.
